5 Fashion Brands That I Have My Eyes On Right Now

As any diligent fashion student would and should, I'm always on the lookout for cool fashion brands with unique pieces. To dress well, you need to know where to buy those pieces that you'll be styling together. Especially as a fashion student, the pressure to dress well in the city is as real as it can be. But... that's also what makes it fun living here. Since freshman year of high school (so that's like five years ago now... yikes), I've kept a list in my notes app of all of the "gatekeep" brands that I liked. Now nobody uses that lingo anymore, but you get it. They're brands that I want to keep all to myself, because let's be real, fashion is all about exclusivity and "if you know you know"s. However, you lucky readers are about to find out about 5 of them that's on my list. Enjoy!
Verconiik
Founded and created by Lindsay Vrckovnik, Verconiik is an iconic knitwear brand that prioritizes sustainability and the idea that each piece of clothing should be special and one-of-a-kind. Their website is beautifully crafted to further relay their unique brand image, and their adorable cursor is just an extra plus. As the industry moves towards more sustainable practices, Verconiik is also transparent about where they source their materials and produce their clothing. Worn by Bella Hadid, Kali Uchis, Emma Chamberlain, Dua Lipa and featured in Vogue, Who What Wear, Self Service, and more, Verconiik is a one-of-a-kind knitwear brand that no one else can compete with.
Pool House New York
Pool House New York is an LA based brand with well-crafted basic pieces. All of their products are manufactured locally in California, and they also ensure ethical manufacturing. Their pieces are perfect for both women and men, their clothes being simple yet produced to create the best fit (and that, is not an easy thing to do). If you're one of my readers, you know how important the fit is to create a good outfit. Also, all of you guys who have been asking me where to buy your clothes, heres one great option for you!
Sweet Chilling
Founded in 2020, Sweet Chilling is a Chinese clothing brand with the perfect combination of girly and trendy. I especially love their Buttercup dress (center photograph) and their Boho Chic Lace-Up Top and Skort. I've also noticed that a lot of their dresses and skirts come with shorts so that there's no worry about the accidental flashes... that honestly happen way too often. The designs are well thought-out and very cute, however, I'd say the downside to purchasing from Sweet Chilling is that their sustainability practices or manufacturing processes aren't outlined on their website which does make me question on how sustainable they are.
JC the Label
Founded by Jina Cappo, JC the Label is a brand with humor and is well-knowledge on the needs of fashion lovers (there really needs to be a better name for people who like fashion thats not cringy). Their newest collection is called "yacht wreck in the hamptons with my 7 month situationship". I have never seen another collection with a name more unserious yet relatable. Their collections include both classy and skimpy clothes (which you gotta love), providing a wide range of options for their customers to express their own fashion senses! Just take a look at their Tian Tian Pants and "i'm not going out in this monokini". I just love how playfully constructed their brand image is.
Bad Blue
Bad Blue is a locally well-known Korean brand that I very recently discovered. I first saw an ad on Instagram for their Dot Cozy Dumpling Bag (pictured in the center) and loved it immediately. The brand is already very popular in Korea, having been worn by many celebrities. Their clothes definitely cater to Korean fashion, but that isn't to say that they're clothes and accessories aren't absolutely adorable. I personally love their bags and headwear and will most likely be purchasing their Dumpling Bag.
bye bye:)
